Scarlet’s story: Living with CF and new hope

About the project

Trixacar is the most effective treatment for Cystic Fibrosis:

According to research the rate of lung transplants were 85% lower in the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) population who used Trixacar;
a 10% to 20% increase in lung function was reported;
No decline in lung function over a period of 4 years;
79% less exacerbations (meaning less hospitalizations) and
the rate of death decreased by 72% for patients living with CF.

Most patients also reported improved quality of life and for children it might mean that they can live life without the symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis.

Scarlet has endured so much already and this medication could make a life-changing difference to her health in such a way that she can live a life with easier breathing and less hospitalizations.

Every donation really does make a difference. By supporting her project – she will be able to afford her first batch of Trixacar and her medical aid will reimburse her partially. These funds will be used for her next chronic batch of Trixacar – as she will need to use this medication for life.

One box of Trixacar currently costs more than R104 000 and she will need to have enough money to buy 2 boxes of Trixacar in order for her to make this medication sustainable.

Medication can only be bought in Argentina due to patent rights and therefore 2 boxes need to be bought to make it sustainable. This will be sufficient for 6 months and also give her enough time to be reimbursed by her medical aid and be able to buy future batches of medication.
